Importance of mathematics in special education degree in their initial training

Abstract

In order to substantiate the importance that students of the special education major give to mathematics, the academic satisfaction was used to: evaluate the content given during their preparation and the level of importance for this discipline. From the application of a questionnaire, the results indicate that future professionals tend to perceive mathematics as necessary and indispensable subject in the learning of children with disabilities, but they give insufficient importance to it during the students’ initial training. In addition, they consider limited the subjects that established by the majoring curriculum to develop an integral mathematical thought.
