Competencies in the context of Higher Education in Ecuador

The work aimed to assess different meanings about competencies concept, the challenges assumed to apply this approach in training and space founded proposed changes for higher education. Based in documentary studies, different meanings of the concept of competencies were valued linked with their viability as part of the proposed Ecuadorian higher education curricular changes. Results shown the coexistence of these approaches in support of new curricular designs implementation, put up in UTM and highlights the most significant challenges that as consequence be required docent staff focus on in redesigned degrees.
