Abstract

Atenas talks with Dr. Lesbia Gertrudis Cánovas Fabelo. Lesbia is, in short, an essential personality of Cuban education and science in the stage of the Revolution. Graduated as a Primary Teacher from the "Makarenko" Pedagogical Institute (1963); also from the Higher Professor of History "Enrique José Varona" Pedagogical Institute (1969); Graduated in History from the University of Havana (1976) and doctor in Philosophical Sciences from the Leningrad State University, USSR (1987) It is difficult to collect in such a small space, so much work, professional life and substantial contributions to the training of education professionals, we only mention her work as dean and academic vice-rector of the Pedagogical University " Enrique José Varona". Director of the Central Institute of Pedagogical Sciences from 1990 to 2002. Founding director of the Knowledge Management Center for teachers of "University for All", belonging to the Council of State (2007-2009). Member of the team of methodologists of the Minister of Education (2009-2011) President of the Association of Pedagogues of Cuba (2009-2013) Honorary Member of this Association since 20 05 and Honorary President of the same (2013). She has received multiple recognitions and distinctions, among which are the National Pedagogy Award granted by the Association of Pedagogues of Cuba (2018) and the Carlos J. Finlay Order (2020). We thank Dr. Lesbia Gertrudis Cánovas Fabelo for agreeing to this interview in the midst of urgent and numerous tasks.
