Keywords:
Teacher skills, higher education, teacher training.Abstract
Today's Higher Education orients its educational models towards competences and promotes comprehensive and meaningful academic training. Therefore, a substantial element to achieve this is teachers. However, most do not show interest in the pedagogical function, due to scientific research and production, so that their professionalization in the educational field lags behind. Faced with this problem, it is essential to know the necessary skills for educational work. Therefore, a case study is presented, the aim of which is to propose a theoretical model of teaching skills as a basis for professionalization in the higher education field. The methodology worked is a mixed approach, the methods used were the theoretical, analysis and synthesis; empirical, with the application of instruments of a questionnaire for teachers, and an interview for students; and statistics, for the analysis of the data obtained; the results of which show a discrepancy between the perspective of this binomial in relation to the competences presented. It is concluded that the need for a pedagogical update by the teachers is imminent, given the coming changes that will have an impact on the new generations.
