Fundamentals of a special didactics for visually handicapped people

Abstract

This article presents the results of a research that aimed to support a special didactic to qualify the teaching and learning processes for people with visual disabilities in higher education based on intersensory educational practices. This qualitative research with a hermeneutic approach was carried out from an interpretive case study, constituted by the University of Antioquia - Colombia, among the results it confirmed that people with visual disabilities require adjustments in the presentation of information, alternatives to process it and have various options to give answers, aspects that are considered in the foundation of special didactics, where the principles and didactic components are contemplated, supported by the characteristics of the subjects who learn, in determined contexts and articulated to specific didactics involved in their training. Likewise, intersensoriality is recognized, as an alternative to overcome traditional educational practices that move away from the recognition of diversity, likewise, it was concluded that this special didactics serves as a reference for different educational levels and to think about other population groups, teacher training being necessary. and the articulated work between professionals who know these teaching and learning processes.
