Abstract

Violence, inequality, inequality, injustice, discrimination, among others, have made emotional intelligence (EI) one of the issues that currently occupies the educational policy agenda, seen as a strategy to reduce this type of social problems. The purpose of the present is to identify the key characteristics of EI, its guiding principles and how they favor social inclusion. The methodology that was implemented is that of documentary analysis based on conceptual cartography. The main results establish that there are few investigations that link EI and social inclusion. In conclusion, it is established that EI should be considered as a fundamental aspect in the integral education of the subject and that it should be established as an option in the reorientation of educational reforms, organizations and society in general.
