Abstract

The paper presents the problem of adolescents enrolled in programs for the acceleration of studies, in public schools from Belo Horizonte city in , Minas Gerais, Brazil, who lag behind studies without conclusion, while, in a critic phase,  they have difficulties with reading and writing and as a consequence their learning is affected in various subjects of study. It is the purpose then, to better understand the implications of functional illiteracy in the learning process of adolescents, taking into account the contributions of the historic-cultural approach and of some authors on psychoanalysis.
