The prevention of addictions in the university context is a complex sociocultural issue that demands a permanent review of the educational work of society. The objective of this research was to diagnose the current state of prevention of addictions at the University of Quevedo. The methods corresponding to the theoretical and empirical level were used, such as synthesis analysis, questionnaires, documentary analysis and observation. The research was carried out at the University of Quevedo, Ecuador, in the year 2021. The results obtained from the diagnosis corroborated the shortcomings of prevention since the consumption of different types of drugs associated with certain risk factors is noted. It is concluded that, although addictions do not constitute an acute health problem in the university community, it is necessary to systematize good prevention practices in the different training processes.
