Assertive leadership as an alternative for change in the quality of education
Keywords:
Assertive leadership, education, management, communityAbstract
The purpose of this article is to establish a comparison of the assertive leadership of the actors in the process and its influence on the educational quality of the Private Educational Unit "Julio María Matovelle" Puerto Bolívar, province of El Oro - Ecuador, taking into account the categories teaching quality, learning culture, professional work, community. The research was carried out with a mixed methodology: quantitative for the data on the criteria issued in the categories measured by the Vanderbilt questionnaire, to measure the quality of teaching, the culture of learning and relationship with the community; and qualitative through semi-structured interviews to establish the relationship between the assertive leadership of managers and the educational management they generate. In the results it is observed that the educational management of the manager is directly influenced by the capacity and style of leadership that he applies in his educational community, so it is concluded that the managers of the educational units of the Puerto Bolívar parish tend to manage their institutions as their own responsibility, the criteria and needs of the community are excluded, and unsatisfied needs are identified, by not having spaces for rapprochement and dialogue so that they can be exposed or solved
