This article is the result of the doctoral research Pedagogical strategy for the education of academic talent, from the family context, in basic secondary school. It is part of the Education of academic talent project in Mayabeque. Among the shortcomings revealed in the research is the insufficient preparation of families to carry out this process of crucial importance for society. Its objective was to propose preparation workshops to families for the education of academic talent. Methods such as observation and interviews with families, interviews with teachers and directors, projective techniques with students, surveys of experts and elements of participatory action research were applied during the development of the workshops. Result: The diagnosis determined the system of content necessary in the preparation of families. This allowed workshops to be structured as actions of a pedagogical strategy. Conclusions: Its application contributed to the preparation of families and the education of academic talent in basic secondary school.
