Professional life projects in the emigration of Cuban university students: aspiration and reality
Keywords:

The objective is to compare the professional life projects in emigration built by Cuban university students with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, with some work experiences of Cuban professionals of this profile who emigrated to the United States. The article presents a partial result of the Emigration project: an analysis from the construction of professional life projects by university students. Methods: To do this, a survey of students and an open semi-structured interview with professionals who have been in that country for more than five years are used. The main results show that 45% of the students surveyed have ever thought about emigrating to another country to practice their profession and reside there, 37.4% of them to the United States, which contrasts with 53.8%. of Cuban education professionals, from the sample interviewed, emigrated to that country, who were never again able to work in their area of knowledge, nor in jobs related to their degree. It is concluded that the work of debate about professional emigration carried out with students by the different educational agencies of the country, including the university, is insufficient, despite the loss of human talent that this means.
