Risk management in virtual environments for university English teaching: A systematic review

Abstract

This article explores effective strategies for risk management in virtual university English teaching environments. The objective is to analyze and synthesize evidence on the implementation of regulatory frameworks, digital security measures, skills development, pedagogical strategies, educational quality and sustainability. The methodology used a qualitative approach to review scientific studies published in specialized journals. Through a thorough exploration of narratives and conceptualization of studies, significant patterns were identified. Databases such as SciELO were used, finding 42 studies, of which 11 that met the eligibility criteria were prioritized. These studies covered various geographical contexts in Latin America and considered both public and private institutions, using qualitative, quantitative and mixed methodologies. The results indicate that the proper integration of digital resources, security measures and effective pedagogical strategies are crucial for safe and quality teaching in virtual environments. As conclusions, the need for a combination of adequate educational resources, effective security measures, robust digital competencies, innovative pedagogical strategies, continuous improvement systems and sustainability principles is recognized to effectively manage risks in university English teaching in virtual environments.
