Abstract

The article refers to the diagnostic results and characterization of the development of the research aimed at validating a training program for the development of research competencies in students of the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology of the University Extension in Veraguas; from a humanistic, constructivist and collaborative work approach. The method used was of a mixed type, with a correlational descriptive approach, structured in two phases; a diagnostic phase, where an opinion questionnaire was applied to teachers and students. And a quasi-experimental phase with pre- and post-test; where a self-assessment questionnaire of research competencies, a scale of attitude towards research and a questionnaire of motivation towards research were applied. The results served as a basis for the design of a program in research competencies such as: competence for the search for research information, infotechnological competence for research, methodological competence for research, and competence for oral and written scientific communication. The research showed, among other characteristics of diagnostic value, that the research practices required for the promotion of research competencies, according to teachers and students participating in the research, require activities such as: research workshops, awareness among peers or teachers, congresses, scientific conferences; that promote a positive attitude and motivation towards research.
