Abstract

At the dawn of the new century, there is an unprecedented demand in Higher Education, accompanied by a great diversification of it, and a greater awareness of the fundamental importance that this type of education has for sociocultural and economic development. Higher Education faces challenges and difficulties for which its teachers must be prepared. One of the challenges facing Higher Education is related to equality and equalization in the access of all students, but this is even greater if they are students with disabilities. The objective of the investigation was to deepen the challenges of the professional overcoming of the university teacher in the educational attention to students with disabilities, for this, theoretical and empirical methods were used, which led to obtaining a series of results related to the potential and needs of the teachers mentioned above in the educational care of students with disabilities. The entrance of students with disabilities in Higher Education demands a change in educational practices and in the professional improvement of their teachers who have the role of offering educational attention to all students.
