The heritage education in the members of the community of the Urban Historical Center of Matanzas

The article shows the partial result of an investigation on the education and socialization of the heritage in the urban historical centers. Their objective is to socialize the result of the diagnosis on the current state of the heritage education in the members of the community of the Urban Historical Center of Matanzas. A mixed focus was assumed, with qualitative prevalence from the methodological conception of the popular education. The historical-logical, analytic-synthetic and inductive-deductive methods were used, the analysis of documents, the observation, the interview, the questionnaire, besides technical of participation. The main results evidence the strengths and weaknesses of the actions of heritage education that are carried out in the context matancero and the perception of such a process for the members of the community. It is considered that the heritage education allows the development of educational actions with interdisciplinary focus; it constitutes an instrument for the appropriation, conservation and transmission of the built and inherited legacy; it allows to strengthen the social commitment in relation to the local cultures and that the members of the community become agents transformers of the society.
