Talented teachers: a study at Santo Tomás University, Villavicencio, Colombia

Abstract

The present study approach outstanding characteristics found on talented teachers in a Colombian University, based on what university students refer to as the ones that most present this type of teacher. The proposed objective was to state the characteristics that undergraduate students stand out as outstanding, in the talented teachers of the Santo Tomás University, Villavicencio Colombia. The methodology is under a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional approach, with an exploratory and descriptive design, who participated were 151 university students of different careers. The results obtained mainly reflect the dimensions of communication and values, where within these, the ones with the highest percentage are: respectful (73.2%), clear and effective communication (69.9%), responsibility (68.6%), communication assertive (66.7%) and ethics and open listening with (65.4%, both). It is concluded that among the characteristics that stand out the most, at least for the case of the University studied, values ​​and communication, turn out to be elements that take relevance for the cases of undergraduate teaching talent and these factors must be present as qualities active in this type of case.
