Contribution of Natural Sciences to environmental education in the 3rd Cuban educational improvement

Abstract

This article addresses essential aspects related to the subject Natural Sciences at the Primary educational level and highlights its potential to influence environmental education for sustainable development with schoolchildren in the third stage of development. The author pays special attention as content to environmental education for sustainable development to undertake this type of work, from a perspective that exalts the motivational levels of schoolchildren, based on the possibilities of independence and interactivity offered by the subject in 5th grade. and 6th grades. The essay collects the result of a five-year investigative process that resulted in the development of the textbook: Natural Sciences of 6th grade in the III Improvement of the National Education System in Cuba.
