Teachers' beliefs about the teaching and learning processes of Natural Sciences: validation of an instrument

The objective of this research was to validate, through expert judgment and a pilot test, an instrument that analyzes and determines teachers' beliefs about the teaching and learning processes of Natural Sciences. The methodology of this study consisted of three phases, including the construction of the assessment instrument, the determination of content validity through expert judgment, and the evaluation of reliability. The main results were the experts’ made suggestions regarding wording, relevance, and importance, and the elimination of 7 items. Instruction and item comprehension were excellent to acceptable. Finally, an optimal reliability score was obtained (Cronbach's alpha 0.808). It was concluded that the aspects that constitute the instrument have adequate structure and coherence.
